EADS Health Check
- Enhancing the Success of Colorectal Cancer Screening in Companies by Integrating It with Other Health Maintenance Modalities -
Illnesses caused by today´s lifestyle and psychosocial loads play an important role in the context of demographic changes and globalization, while classical work problems according to occupational diseases are declining. Company health promotion and management of health receiving and health promoting processes is one of the most challenging jobs of an progressive occupational physician. As long as the german screening programms of general health insurances are only poorly used, company prevention programms represent an important additional measure for the employees healthy attitude.
With support of Mannheim Institut for Public Health at the University of Heidelberg the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company set up a pilot project to combine an employee survey with a detailed medical examination. The anonymous analysis proofs medical data and psychosocial factors, workreferred loads and resources. Health promotion programms are usually attended of approx. 20% of the employees. The offer of a holistic health examination with an integrated immunological stool test for colon cancer screening were successful factors for an extraordinary participation of 62% (n=1608). The project is supported by an innovative communication concept and interaction of all useful company departments.
Each participant receives a detailed personal report with all results and defined recommendations for action in the context of behavior prevention. Keeping all interests of data protection EADS receives an overview of the individual departments, which supports resources planning and priorities for a health promotimg work design.
